Telugu Lyrics
English Lyrics / Transliteration
**Rayalu:** Welcome, welcome! A grand welcome to the poet laureate, the gem of poets, the court poet, Tenali Ramakrishna.
**Ramakrishna:** (Bowing respectfully) Salutations to the crown jewel of fame, the prince of exquisite poetry, Shri Krishnadevarayalu.
**Rayalu:** Oh, great poet, your arrival brings us immense joy.
**Ramakrishna:** My birth is blessed, Your Highness. The fortune of serving in your court as a poet is a dream come true for any poet who gazes upwards.
**Rayalu:** (Laughing) Wonderful! Wonderful! The style of your words, the essence of your thoughts… I actually wish to stage a play in my court.
**Ramakrishna:** (Enthusiastically) Your wish is my command, Your Highness! What kind of play?
**Rayalu:** Our Puranas and Epics hold many tales of valor, scenes filled with pathos. Can you choose one among them and present it as a magnificent play?
**Ramakrishna:** (Thinking) Bhuvanavijayam… Yes, Bhuvanavijayam! The assembly of the Ashtadikgaja poets, in the court of Shri Krishnadevarayalu, a test of poetic prowess.
**Rayalu:** Bhuvanavijayam? It sounds interesting. Please elaborate.
**Ramakrishna:** Bhuvanavijayam means, an assembly where all poets, in Rayalaseema’s court, in the presence of Rayalaseema, showcase their talent through their Kavyas, Shlokas, and poems. In that assembly, Shri Krishnadevarayalu, the emperor of poets, will be the judge.
**Rayalu:** (Thinking) That’s good. But, in that test of poetic prowess, are there not the Ashtadikgaja poets, who are the foremost among all? Can anyone surpass them?
**Ramakrishna:** (With a smile) Your Highness, the Ashtadikgaja poets are unparalleled in their respective talents. But, “Courage is unknown to the world, whoever has courage… they can become a god, they can become a hero.”
**Rayalu:** (With delight) The inspiration in your words, the command over your poetry… Amazing! Let it be so. Let’s stage the play with the name “Bhuvanavijayam.”
**Ramakrishna:** I shall obey your command, Your Highness.
(After some time, the scene of the Bhuvanavijayam play begins on stage. Rayalavaru, Ashtadikgaja poets, Jester, and other courtiers are seated.)
**Rayalu:** (Addressing everyone) Today, in our court, in the presence of the highly talented Ashtadikgaja poets, a magnificent play is about to be presented. That play is… “Bhuvanavijayam”!
**Ashtadikgaja Poet 1:** (Enthusiastically) Bhuvanavijayam! It sounds interesting.
**Ashtadikgaja Poet 2:** (Slightly arrogantly) Rayalaseema himself being the judge will provide more encouragement to the poets.
**Jester:** (Playfully) Friends, poets are gems of poetry. Today, it’s a feast of poetry, a battle of eloquence.
**Rayalu:** (Laughing) Yes, Jester. Today, for the talent and eloquence of our poets, Shri Krishnadevarayalu will be the judge.
**Ashtadikgaja Poet 3:** (Looking at Tenali Ramakrishna) Then, who has written the stage adaptation for such a grand play?
**Ramakrishna:** (Coming forward, respectfully) Your Highness, the stage adaptation and dialogues for this play, I, Tenali Ramakrishna, humbly present.
**Ashtadikgaja Poet 4:** (Surprised) Tenali Ramakrishna! He… is he credited with this achievement?
**Ashtadikgaja Poet 1:** (Slightly skeptical) How can he manage such a grand play?
**Rayalu:** (Laughing) Oh, great poet, we have complete faith in you. Please present your play.
**Ramakrishna:** (Addressing the assembly) Your Highness, Ashtadikgaja poets, friends! In today’s “Bhuvanavijayam” play, I have attempted to portray the grandeur of Shri Krishnadevarayalu’s court, the talent of the poets, in a very beautiful, humorous, and entertaining manner.
(The play begins. Many poems, dialogues, and humorous scenes are presented.)
**Ramakrishna (Poem):**
“The fame of Krishnadevarayalu’s moon-like
Shines like a star in all directions.
In the presence of the eloquence of the Ashtadikgaja poets
I shall present this play.”
**Rayalu (Dialogue):**
“Behold the talent of Tenali Ramakrishna,
His humorous writings are wonderful.”
**Jester (Dialogue):**
“The poets recite poems,
But I will just fill my stomach.”
(Continuing like this, the play reaches its conclusion.)
**Rayalu:** (Addressing everyone) The “Bhuvanavijayam” play has been performed excellently. Tenali Ramakrishna’s talent, his wit, his eloquence, are commendable.
**Ashtadikgaja Poets:** (Praising) Indeed, Your Highness, Tenali Ramakrishna’s talent is immense.
**Rayalu:** (Calling Tenali Ramakrishna) Ramakrishna, your play, your writing ability has given us great pleasure. You will always have a distinguished place in our court.
**Ramakrishna:** (Respectfully) Your patronage is my reward, Your Highness.
(All the courtiers congratulate Ramakrishna with applause.)
**Rayalu:** (Laughing) Now, let’s go for lunch.
